Carrot Dry Dal

Ingredients:

4 big carrots
½ cup toor dal or massor dal
2 green chilies
2 garlic clove
2 dry red chilies
1 tea spoon mustard seeds
½ tea spoon cumin seeds or jeera
½ tea spoon urid dal
½ tea spoon chana dal
6 curry leaves
½ tea spoon turmeric powder
Hing powder

Procedure:

Wash, peel and grate the carrots. Cut the green chilies into small pieces.
While doing carrots work, you can cook dal. Take dal in a middle size pan. Wash and pour and add 2 cups water to it. Don’t cover it. Put middle flame. Boil until dal cooks. Dal shuold not be cooked like a paste. The curry is dry type so cook until it becomes soft only. It might take 10 minutes to become soft. Drain the dal using strainer.
Heat the oil and add mustard seeds, jeera, curry leaves, garlic cloves and hing powder. When seeds spluttering add green chili and grated carrot to it.
Add salt, turmeric powder, and chili powder. Slightly sprinkle the water over it and cover it with low flame until it cooked.
Then add dal to it and mix well.
Tastes good with Rice.
